Seek
Maurizio Grandinetti is tirelessly exploring the possibilities of the acoustic and semiacoustic guitar, and «will fearlessly employ any technique, any instrument, to manifest the necessary sounds», as Elliott Sharp describes Maurizio Grandinetti’s openness to a wide range of tonalities and techniques. His activities are not limited to one genre or formation, but range from solo recitals, chamber and contemporary music to improvisation. Electrically amplified, and accompanying himself on electron…
Werktag/Chessex/Buess
Werktag / Chessex / Buess takes its roots in the Zurich based trio Werktag, initiated in 2012, and to which Alex Buess and Antoine Chessex are now both bringing their own contribution.Wertag (Tobias Gerber, saxophone; Rafael Rütti, piano; Sebastian Hofmann, drums) evolves in the tension field between written, experimental and improvised music and tends to have a weakness for the combination of acoustic instruments and live multi-track electronic music. As a result, the volume is sometimes prett…
Negativ White 2
2012 Release. Negativ White 2″ is Papiro’s second output in cooperation with Roy and the Devil’s Motorcycle’s Markus Stähli. Similar to “Rev” (TREE028) this is a live-recording, which was done during a rehearsal for a gig – they were booked for a Rockabilly Night [sic!]. The instruments are kept rather minimal: a drum machine, a synthesizer and synthetical moaning (as a result of pairing a VCS3 with a Formant Filter) are woven into a dubby something. The synthesizers squeak and hiss as one might…
Rev
2010 release. In early 2009, Papiro met with Markus Stahli (of Roy and the Devil'€™s Motorcycle) to rehearse for an upcoming show as the support act of New York avant-gardist and Suicide instrumentalist Martin Rev. As an opening, he chose a piece reminiscent of an Indian raga. Despite its eastern mood, he wanted it to produce a disturbing and nervous atmosphere. The rehearsal was actually supposed to be as a three-piece, but no date could be found for the third man, Michi Zaugg. They decid…
Avventure Lontane
Mostly known for his intense drone performances and as bass/guitarplayer for the ultrasonic noise trio MIR, Papiro seems to slip into a different persona when left unattended with a bunch of old Synthesizers and the privilege of overdub. The nine tracks show Papiro’s affinity for melodies and complex arrangements and will please followers of early seventies electronica like Walter Carlos (A Clockwork Orange), Cluster or Bruce Haack. The LP comes in a silkscreened glow-in-the-dark cover.
