Horn of Plenty

Hiraeth And Limerence
Horn of Plenty is proud to present the first full-length vinyl release from one of NZ/Aotearoa’s best kept secrets, William Henry Meung. Although musically active for the last couple of decades, Meung only recently began releasing his work via a clutch of CD-R’s, lathes & tapes. Hiraeth and Limerence, the first in a series of four LP’s, was recorded to phone and tape in Dunedin between 2016-2019 as a particularly turbulent period in William’s life drew to a close. Hiraeth - a yearning for that w…
Live At The Petersham Bowling Club
Live at the Petersham Bowling Club was recorded in January 2023 when Warm Currency supported the great Maxine Funke. This offering includes tracks from Returns, our 2022 album on Horn of Plenty, and some unreleased material. We jettisoned our regular keyboard to grapple with the bowling club's cracked piano.
Perceptible to Everyone
As the mist clears from their Sift LP (hop9) Eyes of the Amaryllis return to Horn of Plenty with the equally enigmatic Perceptible to Everyone. Recorded in various remote locations around the northeast of the US over a few warm months in 2022, Perceptible to Everyone maps the band's poetry in nebulous song forms that dance on their constant fission between pastoral and ghostly inner galaxies. Its eight tracks utilize a wide range of instruments and techniques to span an alien, ritualistic territ…
Bathroom Electronics
2023 marks the 35th year of Idea Fire Company’s ongoing commitment to the radical avant-garde. To mark the occasion, Horn of Plenty is proud to present the band’s latest campaign statement Bathroom Electronics. IFCO’s core members are Scott Foust and Karla Borecky who operate from rural Massachusetts. Early despatches came via Scott’s Swill Radio imprint alongside titles by The Shadow Ring, RLW, and Asmus Tietchens. The last decade or so has seen them work with other notable labels including Kye…
Mares
As a member of Ghent’s experimental music scene, over the past two decades Annelies Monseré has slowly refined a singular approach to musicality, moving from the sparse, instrumental piano works from that defined her early career, toward increasingly complex arrangements of instrumentation that offer a central place to her own voice, issued by noteworthy imprints such as Morc Tapes, Stroom, and three:four. Like her work within the widely celebrated ensemble, Luster, as well as Distels, her duo w…
Udge
Melbourne-based Francis Plagne returns to Horn of Plenty with possibly his strongest statement to date, Udge.
Form & Feeling
Nein Rodere is the moniker of the Berlin-based music maker and visual artist David Roeder. Having played in bands for more than 20 years - often times making improvised music with other “non-musicians” - Roeder was trained in painting and psychodynamic art therapy. This multifaceted background underpins the complex humour and multiple dimensions of meaning (and double meaning) that bubble below his work. The body of solo efforts that has slowly emerged over the last five years brings to mind the…
Old Light
Tip! Surveying late 20th century underground music - sounds that largely emerged before the internet delivered the illusion of interconnectedness - the most noteworthy often sprang from second cities, small towns, and backwaters, rather than cultured metropolitan centres like New York, London, Paris, and Tokyo. Boredom, marginalisation, and relative isolation seem to have been essential, counterintuitive components to the becoming of great art. Nowhere was this more true than in NZ/Aotearoa, the…
Permanent Draft
*300 copies limited edition* Conceived as a manifesto for eponymous all-female label Permanent Draft, this limited flexi comes with a booklet of poetry and pictures based on the prime number 13. Permanent Draft aims to highlight works showing a certain taste for fragmentary, irrepressible creative eruption and lo-fi experiments. Leaving the grandiose apart to pay and bring attention to the sounds, details and anecdotes of everyday life, picking up raw material from the ordinary. Bitter truths, m…
Muzeum Historii Naturalnej
*Includes a 24-page A5 booklet.* This first vinyl release from photographer, musician and visual artist Mateusz Woś was recorded at home in Warsaw during the winter of 2021 and was conceived as the sequel to his Skamielina tape. Muzeum Historii Naturalnej consists of two side-long excursions into eerie pastoral dream states. Imagined worlds where the earthly and cosmic collide. You'll like it there.
Untitled
Necessary, and slightly expanded, vinyl edition of the first Little Skull long player which was originally released as a micro-edition CD-R in 2009. Written, performed and recorded by Dean Brown on borrowed and home made instruments during a year spent living  in a cold colonial-era house across the street from Len Lye's childhood home in Aro Valley, Wellington NZ. Fashioning a bass from a coffee can and elastic band, using the home's antique doorbell, and unavoidably including the seeping sound…
Returns
Warm Currency is a new project by Sydney-based friends, artists and musicians MP Hopkins and Mary MacDougall. Mary began working with MP Hopkins and Christopher Schueler in 2008 as Vincent Over the Sink morphed into The Bowles. Returns was recorded in Mary’s home during 2020-2021 and is their first release since 2012’s The Bowles EP (Kye). Quietly intense folk music, song-poems, and concrète collages built from seemingly simple and delicate arrangements for guitar, keyboards, voice and tape.
None Corsa
Debut vinyl outing for Valentina Magaletti and Pino Montecalvo’s Avvitagalli project couretesy of London's Horn of Plenty label. Variegated percussion + WTF jams inspired by a visit to an abandoned, torched palazzo somewhere in southern Europe. Its charred, decaying splendour casts a fitting backdrop to the surreal push-pull of Valentina & Pino’s aural capers. None Corsa explores presence and absence, purpose and chance, and the tension between serenity and disquiet. Composing and decomposing, g…
Eyes of The Amaryllis
Debut LP from this new Philadelphia four-piece whose members include Siltbreeze, Blackest Ever Black, Vitrine, Cor Ardens, & Kashual Plastik alumni. With one sought-after tape behind them the band attempt a surreal approximation of nice music. Their general merriment and creative fervour was captured in recordings over a few chance family dinners and channelled through a selection of poorly tuned instruments and detritus. Songs collapsing into abstraction, or vagueness uniting in melody, Sift ca…
Catch Up with What Party +
The first full-length vinyl outing from Berlin-based musician and visual artist David Roeder. The LP features original and re-worked tracks from his previous self-released tapes as well as new material. A gateway to the work of this shape-shifting artist whose Pessoan approach presents us with 23 tracks ranging from ensemble pieces, bedroom pop, field recordings, improvisations and electronics. Disparate elements unified by a layered, textural and DIY approach to sound. Indeed, the whole is some…
Is Dead - Volume One
Paul Chain was a pseudonym first used by the self-taught Italian multi-instrumentalist Paolo Catena in 1977. In 2003 he announced Paul Chain's 'artistic death' and destroyed all the tapes and photos in his possession. No explanation was given. Paul Chain has become a cult figure in the doom metal scene, but his 'purely phoentic' vocals, lo-fi recording techniques, and disregard for genre, will appeal to a far wider audience. With this officially licensed 93-minute double LP the Horn of Plenty si…
Lower Hope Reach
Another sublime installment from Dean Brown’s Little Skull. This 5 track 10” moves through minimal, naïve, folk/chamber territory on into darker, more twisted waters. Hand-made covers and inserts featuring three different lino-cut images. Each record comes with three inserts on transparent stock and features one of those images on the cover. Therefore there’s three variations of outer sleeve design. No requests!
Rural Objects
* 250 copies on black vinyl. 350gsm cover and insert featuring artwork by Francis Plagne * Expanded vinyl edition of the 2019 tape/digital release. This release features two previously unreleased tracks. Francis Plagne’s work straddles songwriting, electronic composition, and improvisation and has appeared on Kye, Penultimate Press, Black Truffle, and Albert’s Basement as well as his own Mould Museum imprint. His first for Horn of Plenty, Rural Objects was recorded to tape at home in Melbourne b…
Due Matte
**Tip. Edition of 300 copies on heavyweight black vinyl in a reverse board jacket and a beautiful 28 page booklet** Two of the most important artists of UK underground music: Valentina Magaletti (Tomaga, Vanishing Twins, etc) and Marlene Ribeiro (Gnod, Negrabranca) were invited to contribute to Hysteria, an artistic residency in Porto 2019. "Due Matte" is the fruit of it: an interaction game between styles and sounds, mesmeric in its echoes of distant landscapes and enveloping in its spatiality.…
How We Used To Laugh - Haunted and Defiant
**Housed in a beautiful handmade diorama sleeve and box. Limited to 100 copies.** Just a few months after fortuitously meeting Dean Brown in London’s Low Company I am delighted to be releasing this Little Skull 7”. For a few years I was listening to Little Skull LP’s unaware that Dean’s own brand of NZ underground music was in fact being recorded a short distance from my London home. Furthermore, Dean’s intricate homemade sleeves were crafted in London, shipped to Italy, then back to London wher…
