Susan Lawly

Buchenwald
The seminal classic first Whitehouse album released in 1980, one of the most important and influential records from the embryonic field of electronic and industrial music
Sixteen Ways Out
William Bennett’s Cut Hands mark a decade of disruption with magnum opus ‘Sixteen ways Out’, hailing a surprising change of pace and style into spare chamber versions of his work voiced by his creative and life partner Mimsy DeBlois Preceded by a seven year absence, Cut Hands’ return to the fray is a solemn and haunting affair that operates in the shadowy nether region between electro-acoustic and classical musicks. Compositions from that fecund first run of Cut Hands between 2011-2015 are here …
Rampton (LP)
Very special legacy 180g limited vinyl of Rampton album by Come proudly reissued by Susan Lawly. The year 1980 saw release of this iconoclastic debut LP, first album on the highly collectible Come Organisation label, and first chapter in the long musical career of a then teenage William Bennett after leaving Essential Logic, which subsequently led to the pure electronic Whitehouse and present-day Cut Hands projects. Also notably featuring synthesiser bass performed by The Normal's Daniel Miller.

The Sound Of Being Alive
Whitehouse remind us what it’s all about with a remastered collection of classics spanning 1998 - 2007: “Look up, look all around you, dump the fucking rubbish, and rise up. Listen to the sound of being alive...”  Assuming that you’ve never heard of them, Whitehouse are thee arch, original power noise unit formed around William Bennett (vocals, electronics, percussion) and Philip Best (vocals, electronics) who met in London around 1982, and the pair would go on to establish one of the most notor…
Asceticists 2006
The Aphex and Russell Haswell approved Noise Artists Whitehouse are back with a very strong album in every way. If you aren't aware of them yet, they have been recording and performing on the edge of music in every way. The Pan African colours adorn the cover with a black glossy booklet featuring the lyrics in full. These are strong lyrics but equally the production is very very strong overall this is their most varied album yet and artistically possibly their best. The lyrics are absolutely stom…
Extreme Music From Russia
Probably one of the most anticipated releases, well by me anyway, this year is the continuation of the Extreme Music series from the Susan Lawly record label. What started with the exemplary assessment of the noise scene in Japan, moved onto the uncharted waters of Africa before hitting the menopausal output of Women has at last gone into Russia for a trawl through the hidden delights of that country. As any true follower of music will tell you there has been a flood of music from this area that…
Mummy and Daddy
A couple of years ago I was sitting backstage at a gig sipping red wine with Whitehouse’s William Bennet and it dawned on me that THIS was extreme. Extreme wasn’t the guys showing off how ‘crazy’ they are by jumping from high mountains or wearing a Cradle of Filth tee-shirt (don’t pretend you don’t know which ones I’m talking about), it was Whitehouse, who weren’t afraid to take their pure unfettered aggression out on stage (and trust me they did) and then relax with wine and chatter in the afte…
Great White Death (Special Edition)
Great White Death, the last Whitehouse effort for Come Organisation, differs greatly from some of their earlier albums. The instrumental parts of the songs are not played on such extreme levels as before; however, the vocals of William Bennett are unusually dynamic and intense. Songs such as "We've Got the Power," "I'm Coming up Your Ass," and "You Don't Have to Say Please," for example, have a low bass drone in the background, while Bennett stretches his voice from quiet whispering to high-pitc…

Birthdeath Experience
Official reissue of the 1st Whitehouse album, originally released on the Come Organisation in 1980. Includes William Bennett's original LP design. Includes the warning: "Extreme electronic music: please acquire with due caution." "The place it all began: the seminal first album by Whitehouse. Even to this day, it is a remarkable piece of work created entirely with tone generators and EDP Wasps, and lyrically full of what would be their uncompromising trademark irony. It would prove instrumental …
Halogen
a very nice reissue of the 1994 studio album recorded by Steve Albini in Chicago and featuring colour artwork by Trevor Brown. One of their few truly 'minimal' and 'meditative' is i can say so...
cruise
Penultimate and incredible controversial album - marking a revolutionary new approach in style, includes 16-page booklet featuring extensive lyrics and information Produced by William Bennett, except 'public' by Steve Albini Mastered by Denis Blackham; definitely one of Whitehouse's best albums. As far as complaints about it being too short: well, many of the Whitehouse albums that the folks on this list state as being good starting points or favorites ("Dedicated To Peter Kurten", "Bu…
