After outings on Altered States, Kashual Plastik and Freuyd & Verdrusz, Berlin three piece Primitive Structures find a home on Krim Kram for this suite of nine fresh spontaneous compositions.

Both band name and album title hint at a sense of humor and self-mockery that's not always associated with the trio's German passports or with experimental/Avantgarde music in general. Meanwhile, the music itself could at parts be understood as indeed very serious exploration of decrepit and barren, post-industrial playgrounds (shabby and halfway burnt to the ground of course). At other parts, it seems to vaguely align itself with 20th century Italian improvised music and maybe even Morricone's more far-out soundtrack works. Other bits still bring to mind a European variant of weird and deconstructed Jazz, a sound that seems a new addition to their already quite far-ranging musical inventory.

Lucky for us, the listeners, this potential hodgepodge of styles is effortlessly held together by Primitive Structures' very own sense of melody, fuzzy surface work and trance inducing, half-dissociated dream logic. Ancient and sci-fi, soothing and abrasive, always entertaining.
