Lucifecit’s debut “Devoção” blends anthems, mantras, and hypnotic grooves—homage to a forgotten deity. Led by Lobo (bass), Pereira (drums), Almeida & Tembe (trumpets), it fuses spiritual jazz, punk-Gnawa bass, modal forms, and radiant horn improvisations.

Lucifecit’s debut album, Devoção (Devotion in english), is no lightweight title. This powerful release is a collection of anthems, mantras, and hypnotic grooves, stretched in homage to a forgotten deity. Led by Norberto Lobo on bass, João Pereira on drums, alongside trumpet players João Almeida and Yaw Tembe (who also performs on EWI), the quartet crafts a sound deeply rooted in groove.

Melodies surface organically, balancing rhythmic drive with dreamy atmospheres. The band’s name—Lucifecit, taken from a sacred creek—may stem from a Mozarabic variation of lucifer ("bearer of light"), possibly alluding to Iron Age rituals of veneration for a distant star. Devoção glows in the dark: a fresh take on spiritual jazz built on modal structures, pulsating syncopation, Punk-Gnawa-inspired basslines, and dazzling horn improvisations.
