*200 copies limited edition* You are probably familiar with the pop-psych Nirvana from the 70s and almost certainly with the renowned outfit of the same name from the 90s Seattle grunge scene. However, somewhere in between the above emerged in Buenos Aires a combo of classically trained musicians with a passion for leaving their own mark in the then burgeoning prog/psych/folk scene.
Despite their short life span between 1976-1978, El Nirvana quickly rose to an acclaimed band among their more well-known peers, mainly due to their outstanding performances in the local live circuit. Their scarce studio and live recordings from those days were recently salvaged, fully remastered and brought to you for the first time on vinyl in this collectable, special edition of 200 hand-numbered copies. As soon as you start spinning the grooves of this exotic sea-like clear blue vinyl, it becomes readily apparent that you’re in for an instant classic that should have been released long ago. Pastoral passages spiced up with elevating flutework constantly alternate with acid guitar solos and psychedelic textures, with occasional long jams in between.
Caught somewhere in between early Arco Iris’ highly emotive folkish psychedelia and Agnus’ idiosyncratically pastoral prog, this is an essential album not only for Argentine golden era prog/psych/folk collectors, but for all collectors still looking to be intrigued by a band as authentically engaging as this. Moreover, this is a 2ble album, as it includes as bonus tracks El Nirvana’s performance of the entire album in 2023.
