The mythology surrounding Les Rallizes Dénudés has always been built on whispers, fragments, and the tantalizing promise of lost recordings waiting to be discovered. Now, Temporal Drift presents one of the most significant archaeological finds in Japanese underground music: Jittoku '76, a previously unknown tape capturing the legendary psychedelic noise pioneers at their most vital during a July 30, 1976 performance at Kyoto's iconic Jittoku venue. Those close to the band have long maintained that "something is different about the Rallizes in Kyoto. They just sound different," and this newly unearthed recording provides stunning evidence of that transformation. Housed in a renovated traditional storehouse and opened in 1973, Jittoku became one of Kyoto's most beloved venues, and while Les Rallizes Dénudés often played in their Tokyo hometown, fans always eagerly awaited their return to the ancient city's intimate confines.

This 2LP gatefold edition captures the band's prime era lineup in full flight: original members Takashi Mizutani (vocals/guitar) and Takashi Nakamura (guitar), joined by Hiroshi Nar (bass) - formerly of Zunou Keisatsu and Datetenryu - and drummer Sami (Toshiro Mimaki), who had been part of both the OZ staff and OZ Band in Tokyo. Many consider this 1976 period one of the band's most vital, a time when they began appearing at the newly opened YaneUra in Shibuya on an almost-monthly basis while music critic Akira Aida led efforts to expand their reach. What makes Jittoku '76 particularly essential is its official status - fully authorized by The Last One Musique and mixed and mastered from the original tapes by Rallizes member Makoto Kubota. This represents not merely a bootleg discovery, but a legitimate addition to the band's carefully guarded canon, complete with liner notes by Waki and new photos by Kyo Nakamura.

The sonic archaeology revealed here showcases Les Rallizes Dénudés at their most transcendent - the same lineup responsible for the legendary '77 Live recording, captured during their creative peak when Mizutani's guitar work was reaching new levels of psychedelic intensity. The band's signature sound - sprawling compositions built around feedback, repetition, and Mizutani's singular approach to volume and texture - finds perfect expression within Jittoku's intimate acoustics. This vinyl edition includes bonus "guitar solos," offering additional glimpses into Mizutani's experimental process during this crucial period. For decades, Les Rallizes Dénudés remained one of underground music's most elusive legends, their reputation built on scarce live recordings and the testimony of those fortunate enough to witness their legendary performances. Jittoku '76 represents a rare opportunity to experience that legend firsthand. The historical significance extends beyond the music itself - this recording documents a crucial moment in Japanese underground culture, when venues like Jittoku and YaneUra were fostering a creative community that would influence generations of experimental musicians. Les Rallizes Dénudés stood at the center of this movement, their uncompromising vision helping to define what Japanese psychedelic music could become.
