John Cage, Kenneth Patchen

Label: RRRip

Format: LP

Genre: Experimental

Out of stock

Very rare ultra-limited first release from 1988 on RRRip of very early electro-acoustic pieces from the 1940's including the collaboration with experimental writer Kenneth Patchen.

condition (record/cover): EX (mark on one side not affecting playing) / NM  - Paste-on cover.

A rare and unusual document pairing two of the most singular creative figures of the American postwar avant-garde. Kenneth Patchen - poet, novelist, painter - was among the first to experiment systematically with the fusion of jazz and spoken word, developing a body of work that occupies its own unclassifiable territory between Beat literature, visual art, and performance. John Cage's presence here connects the two strands of radical American experimentalism - music and poetry - that ran parallel and occasionally intersected across the 1950s and 60s. Issued on RRRip in a small edition that has long made it one of the harder items in either figure's discography to locate.
