2024 Stock. Japan release only. ** The electronic duo Thorax-Wach, consisting of the musicians Olaf Kraemer and Frank Dieckmann, gained notoriety in the early 1980s in the circle of the Berlin Geniale Dilettanten. The albums “Barely conceived – already in fashion” and “You’re still doing way too well” established them as pioneers of the techno genre.

After an impressive break of 40 years, the artists got together again and, as lovers of Franz Kafka, decided to record an album about the last year of the writer's life in Berlin. "Kafka in Berlin" takes the listener into Kafka's literary world shortly before a social upheaval and a technological revolution that is as relevant today as the ongoing development of artificial intelligence.

The music of "Kafka in Berlin" is characterized by a minimalist electronic sound, accompanied by melancholic memories and original sounds from 1923. Olaf Kraemer's German lyrics are artfully woven into the music by Frank Dieckmann. The result is a dark masterpiece of darkwave that not only offers timeless sounds, but also deep insights into Kafka's world.

"Kafka in Berlin" (Suezan Studio) stands out for its clever integration of excerpts from Kafka's diaries. They give the work a special authenticity and create a masterful electronic connection between past and present. The album is a captivating journey that takes listeners through the shades of Kafka's thoughts and emotions.
