condition (record/cover): EX / VG (heavy creasing) With original innersleeve. X's legendary 1980 debut produced by The Doors' Ray Manzarek. John Doe and Exene Cervenka's dual vocals interweave and clash over Billy Zoom's rockabilly-inflected guitar and D.J. Bonebrake's propulsive drumming, creating the definitive L.A. punk sound. Songs like "Los Angeles" and "The World's A Mess; It's In My Kiss" capture the city's darkness and beauty simultaneously. Manzarek's production gives the record warmth without sacrificing edge - the band sounds immediate and present. Lyrically, Doe and Cervenka write with poetic sophistication about urban decay, doomed romance, and California mythology. Los Angeles is both a document of its city and time, and a punk rock masterpiece that transcends both. Original innersleeve included, though cover shows heavy creasing from years of appreciation.
