After years of touring, from FIMAV in Victoriaville and SuperDeluxe in Tokyo to Haldern Pop, China, India and South America, the Swiss trio Schnellertollermeier (Andi Schnellmann on bass, Manuel Troller on guitars and drum programming, David Meier on drums and percussion) opens a new chapter of its twenty-year history. Where earlier records pushed walls of sound forward with a sharp, at times brutal minimalism, Shadow Web turns to a non-linear sense of time: softness, slowness, the courage to work inward rather than forward.
As always there are almost no overdubs, and the music, recorded mostly live, unwinds in four long arcs. The 22-minute opener 'Epoxide' starts from a static organ surface before the trio breaks in like a wave, bass and drums weaving circles while the guitar spreads arpeggios and leaves space; the title track picks up the tempo with a drum machine that hints at Brazilian baile funk, a first for the band; 'Shelter' drops every composed element and lets the instruments merge into texture; 'Through The Glass Walls' closes with a dense, light interlocking rhythm. Julian Cowley of The Wire once suspected telepathy behind their interplay.
Recorded by Manuel Egger at Suburban Sound in Winterthur in August 2025, mastered by Joe Talia, artwork by Mathis Pfäffli. Double LP released by Cuneiform.
