One of the small mysteries that turns up in every serious jazz collection. Bill Hitz And His Orchestra recorded for Decca in the late fifties, in the era when every label kept a stable of dance and swing orchestras working the mainstream market, and then vanished from the historical record almost entirely. Music For This Swingin' Age is exactly what its title advertises: big band arrangements of the period, played by professionals, produced to the standards of a major label at the height of the LP boom. Records like this are how most people actually heard orchestral jazz at the time.

Italian Fonit pressing for Decca. Obscure, cheerful and increasingly interesting to anyone who collects the margins.
