Karsten Vogel and Hugh Steinmetz first played together in the mid-1960s in John Tchicai's Copenhagen ensemble, which became Cadentia Nova Danica, and forty years later they shared this quartet. Vogel plays alto saxophone and bass clarinet and also recorded and produced the sessions, held on 21 September 2005 and 18 January 2006 at the Oyster Songs studio in Copenhagen.
Steinmetz plays trumpet, Kasper Tagel bass and Lars Juul drums. The two leaders split the writing across thirteen short pieces of post-bop with free edges, from Nine And A Half to the title track, and two of them, Make A Buck and The Andalusian House, had already appeared on Steinmetz's Janus Head a few years earlier.
