Atmospheres that evoke nocturnal wanderings without a precise destination, in search of sensations and unexpected events as if in a sort of psychic drift in which sounds, collected in random order in different places and times, fluctuate in compositions somewhere between soundscapes, ambient and electroacoustic music. The material on "Vaco" is deliberately fragmentary, a succession of incidental phenomena that the author projects outside specific space-time coordinates in a hypothetical and abstract scenario. A meticulous weaving in which everything happens in the dark, generating an alienating effect characterised by a strong tension and latent restlessness, with the bass guitar and sparse instruments expanding the depth of an elusive and dreamlike soundscape. What makes the project even more enigmatic is the graphic aspect, with the vinyl cover (a simple perforated envelope of black cardboard) adorned with a sticker that summarises the entire content in written-graphic form. Different signs reproduce the five Platonic solids symbolising the alchemical elements Fire, Earth, Water, Air and Sky, for a listening experience aimed at establishing a connection between music, esotericism, natural phenomena and symbolism.
Maath is the ambient/isolationist music project of Marco Ramassotto, whose discography besides "Vaco" includes "No Survivors For The New World" (CD, Eibon Records, 2005) and "Darkness, Void and Silence" (CD, Eibon Records, 2017). In parallel to the Maath project, in recent years Ramassotto has released three electronic music works under the pseudonym Mark Schaub: "&" with Daniele Pecorelli (LP, 2019), "Damaged Future" (CD, 2019) and "08" with Anofele (LP, 2022), all on his own Anomala Soundscapes label.
