Sucesiones
Sucesiones is a compilation of studies written for 53 equal divisions of the octave (53 EDO). This tuning temperament was selected after analyzing the work of Mexican researcher and visionary Augusto Novaro, one of the microtonal and just intonation pioneer theorists. Novaro claims that 53 EDO is one of rich musical qualities, which has good approximations to the harmonic series. The use of simple textures such as sine waves was a conscious decision, this in order to maintain the focus on the re…
Hopes & Theory
Hopes and Theory is a collection of songs inspired by wild plants and intentional gardens. At its core this music is rooted in synthesis, autonomy, and purely tuned harmony. At its heart there is chaos, color, and evolution. Hopes and Theory was recorded on the island of North Haven, Maine and reflects the anarchy of serenity in a seemingly peaceful place.  William Trevaskis is a composer and sound artist living and working in the Fox Islands of Maine who uses xenharmony to explore themes of cha…
Aurinkopari
Aurinkopari plays with polarities as it seeks to find something celestial in the mundane. The brightest sound of the album is captured in the darkest night of the year. Sine waves, scaled according to old wartime engineers, are performing as a magic flute. A hydrophone detects other-worldly sounds of a drowning compost and a ceremonial Javanese gendèr is recorded in a bunker… While the processes of recording the album were often playfully esoteric, I think the music itself is warmly heartfelt.
First Room
*2022 stock.* First room is the debut solo album from microtonal tuba player and composer Martin Taxt. The album is the first in a series of works investigating possible relations between architecture and music. First room is a tribute to the Japanese tearoom and the tatami mat. The floor plan as shown on the cover has been used as a foundation for the musical score, performed by Inga Margrete Aas on viola da gamba and double bass, and Martin Taxt on microtonal tuba and sine waves. The album is …
Time Machines
Recent re-press “4 Tones to facilitate travel through time.” So begins the listeners’ journey into what has become one of the most treasured and revered pieces of Coil history ever released. Each of the four pieces on Time Machines is named after the chemical compound of the hallucinogenic drug that they were composed for, and the album was meticulously crafted to enable what John Balance referred to as "temporal slips" in time and space, allowing both the artist and audience to figuratively "di…
The Insect Musicians / Necropolis, Amphibians & Reptiles
* CD Digi-Slipcase + 40 Pages Booklet * Graeme Revell might be known as the mastermind behind the seminal Industrial project SPK. Or for the many sound-tracks released for the movie industry, for films such as: Body of Evidence, Boxing Helena, The Crow, Street Fighter, From Dusk till Down, The Craft, the Negotiator, Red Planet, Collateral Damage,  High Crimes, Sin City and many, many others... The Insect Musicians album is important for several reasons: "The Insect Musicians"  probably is the fi…
Aleph
*2022 stock.* In his liner notes to Aleph, Terry Riley explains that the work was created as "an improvised meditation on the various meanings of this supreme emanation from the Hebrew alphabet." It was made using a Korg Triton Studio 88 synth with his own sound design, and employing a just intonation scale used by Lou Harrison on his last work, "Nek Chand for Just Intonation National Steel Guitar," which was performed by Riley's son Gyan on the album Serenado. Riley has been using the scale for…
