Mats Gustafsson
Mats Gustafsson, born in Umeå in 1964, is a Swedish saxophonist, improviser and composer whose baritone and tenor playing has the force of a rock band. He leads or co-leads The Thing, Fire!, Gush, Sonore, Swedish Azz and the NU Ensemble, has played in Peter Brötzmann's Chicago Tentet and Barry Guy's New Orchestra, and has worked with Sonic Youth, Merzbow, Jim O'Rourke, Otomo Yoshihide, Yoshimi and Ken Vandermark.
