Univers Zero

Univers Zero is a Belgian group founded in 1974 by drummer Daniel Denis. Its dark, mostly instrumental music joins rock drive to the language of twentieth century chamber music, with Bartók and Stravinsky among early influences. The band took part in the Rock in Opposition movement of the late 1970s and is usually filed under what later came to be called avant-prog. Univers Zero grew out of Necronomicon, formed in 1973 by Denis and Claude Deron, and took its name from a book by the Belgian writer Jacques Sternberg.
