Harbinger Sound

Black Pool Legacy
The Ceramic Hobs are the band in the corner of the old man\'s pub round the back of the venue getting drunk before they either: a.) slay your senses with a mind boggling set of punk inspired psychedelia or, b.) fall over screaming and fighting. They make The Fall look as stable as U2 and the Butthole Surfers as mainstream as R.E.M. The band is from Blackpool and they\'ve been going since 1985. This double-LP retrospective of the North of England\'s most unique, overlooked, and long-lasting …
Contrapt
John Wall and Mark Durgan return after a lengthy absence with Contrapt. On Contrapt, they've created a fractured sound world woven together from improvisations that took place in the Utterpsalm Studio in London between 2012-15. The seven tracks on Contrapt are an attempt at imposing order, structure, and "expression" without meaning or intention, onto a huge amount of heavily edited sonic material.
A Return To Slavery
Classic crushing industrial noise / power electronics from 1983! A limited vinyl edition of legendary noise act Ramleh's side of the classic split-album A Return To Slavery album, originally released in 1983 on Broken Flag. As the original record was a split, this reissue fills in the other side with Ramleh's The Hand Of Glory EP. The sound is a murky wall of gravel throated noise pocked with distant yelps from Mundy in sonic fisticuffs with variety of cassette sampled political speeches, whose …
The Harbinger Sound Sampler
The Harbinger Sound Sampler features a selection of new, unreleased or very scarce tracks pulled from the label's diverse roster of artists. Among this two album set you will find exclusives from the Sleaford Mods, Consumer Electronics, Steve Ignorant's Slice Of Life amongst others. Legends such as The Urinals and Chaos UK mix with newer upstarts such as The Lowest Form, Pisse, Massicot, and Karies. The album runs through the reach of Harbinger Sound's catalog taking in abstract noise, post punk…
Impregnator of the death mouth
Following her hour-long sound piece Decay and Persistence, released on Fragment Factory in 2013, here's the first solo vinyl release by South England's multimedia artist AK. Kemp has been active in the field of radical sound- and performance art for the past 20+ years, looking back on infrequent but memorable performances across Japan, USA, UK & Europe, as well as a handful of splendid (and mostly sold out) small-run releases under her Germseed moniker. Impregnator Of The Death Mouth is a…
Decal Baby
Decal Baby' is a compilation featuring a selection of cuts from Leicester's Fish From Tahiti. The songs were recorded and released at the start of the 2000s and originally released by FFT's Dave Dixey on his own Sorted Records label. The set also contains a number of unreleased tracks recorded during the same period. All featuring FFT's trademark sound of crazed loops and snatched samples all thrown together to create a drunken hypnotic haze. At times it is almost dubish, at others it's v…
Trace
Phil Julian is a UK based sound artist, composer and improviser active since the late 1990's, with a prolific output under the Cheapmachines alias and his own name. His work has been released on a catalogue of imprints and encompasses sonic textures ranging from harsh squalls of noise to compositions structured around hyper-minimalistic timbres and drones. Studio recordings and live performances within Europe and North America have focused on the use of electronics, particularly unstable and-or …
Austerity Dogs
Sleaford Mods is J. Williamson - vocal/all writing, and Simon Claridge on computer! He used to be in bands but got sick of the bullshit, so he started this amazing punk/hip-hop/comedy racket. Just about the most brutal and bleak LP we’ve ever released. Debut vinyl by Nottingham’s finest. No compromise, no refunds. Please acquire with due caution : this is not an extreme electronics record !
Sins of omission
A mutating web of feedback, choral echoes and lo-fi loops of various squeaking, rattling found sounds, settling gently into certain texture combinations before teasing the stasis through jolts of pitch bend or slow fades into somewhere else. It's a real nightmare collage: one minute it's a blast of screaming electronics, like someone tampering with the cockpit controls, and the next it's tornado of factory noise and alien sex. Musique concrete for the mind's darker, more paranoid recesses, with …
Unroof the house of the fishes
Long-awaited vinyl LP reissue of Unroof The House Of The Fishes by Key Ransone's Small Cruel Party. Originally released in 1993 as a limited to 50 copies tape on the Japan-based G.R.O.S.S label run by Akifumi Nakajima. Aube but now upgraded to vinyl by UK label Harbinger Sound. Mastered for vinyl by Scott Konzelmann of Chop Shop 'fame'. The LP is housed in a printed inner sleeve, along with a full-colour jacket, both featuring new artwork by the artist. Side A is a creeped contortion of ambient …
Hirrnkopter hellikranck
Its a reissue of the 1989 Schimpfluch cassette that features early destructive outbursts - both in the radio station and out on the street - by Joke Lanz (Sudden Infant) and Rudolf Eb.er (Runzelstirn Und Gurglestock).
The Curfew Recordings
The Curfew Recordings were made at a disused industrial site on the river Tyne in 1984 and feature John Smith (then publisher of Interchange magazine), Sean Dower (ex Death Magazine 52 & later of Bow Gamelan Ensemble) And John Mylotte (of the band Metgumnebone). The recordings were made inside a 10m tall and 26m wide, steel-plated cylindrical, structure, once used for bitumen storage. The instrumentation is acoustic and the recordings are unprocessed (the space however adds a remarkable reverb).…
Le Couperet: Music For The Crimes Of Dr. Petiot
Near-mythical compilation originally released on Broken Flag as a cassette in 1983. Around this time there were compilations coming out all over the place, usually featuring at least one of Whitehouse, Ramleh, The New Blockaders or Sutcliffe Jugend along with a bunch of other obscure noise bands. This one's been completely unattainable and I've never even seen a copy come up for sale anywhere so having a viyl reissue is great! Featured on here are Ramleh, TNB and Vortex Campaign, along with Sir …
An Accident In Substance
Many years in the making, An Accident In Substance collects all of the 7-inch tracks and a huge number of compilation appearances of Key Ransone's legendary project Small Cruel Party. Like the pungent scent of a campfire or the complex flavor of a good, peaty single malt, Small Cruel Party's mix of environmental sounds, far-off voices, and Cartridge Music-like close manipulation of tiny sounds get into your sinuses, your hair, your jacket, melding into a location-specific surrealist vision …
Supercharge
** Edition of 250 copies. Includes 24 page A4 Comic. Originally released on Mother Savage Noise Productions in 1995 ** As all Mother Savage tapes begin their transubstantiation into the new holy relics of Noise, one seldom-heard act still stands at a comfortable distance from the rest of the roster. A collaboration between Andy Bolus (Evil Moisture) and Mark Durgan (Putrefier), Olympic Shit Man divorced itself from the ultra-saturated, no-mind quest for pure filth by combining velocity and densi…
Death Magazine 52
Between 1982 and 1984 Death Magazine 52 played around 20 shows mostly within the Black Country region of the U.K. Sometimes they played under the name Spontaneous Human Combustion which was the moniker they originally started out with. These recordings capture the core group and its floating membership at various stages of their existence. Recordings from the studio sessions and live sets, including playing to a school hall full of teenage girls at 3pm one afternoon, and as the final band to pla…
Teenage Fantasy 1987-88
Massively potent retrospective collection of early work by Anthony Di Franco of Ramleh working under the pseudonym of JfK: Teenage Fantasy bundles the Il Pach Preserve and Woelf cassettes originally released on Broken Flag with two previously unreleased tracks and a track from the Inna Inner Amen cassette. Like the early Total and Skullflower sides, JfK seem deformed by the first wave of avant rock coming out of the USA post-Sonic Youth but with an intense/ecstatic Industrial overload appe…
Awake!
Staggering reissue, long time coming, of what was originally a six cassette box released on Broken Flag in 1985 documenting every last recorded artefact from Ramleh’s original ‘power electronics’ incarnation, here with massively upgraded sound and bonus previously uncompiled material that runs from their inception on 21/5/1982 through to their eventual hiatus on 21/7/1984. The eight CDs contain over 100 tracks that clock in at over 500 minutes of playing time. Each CD is housed inside an …
Myth
The two LPs are straight reissues of the first two Kleistwahr cassettes released by Broken Flag in 1983 - BF3 and BF15. They are the first two volumes in a series of four releases cataloging the early Kleistwahr recordings. Kleistwahr was the solo project of Gary Mundy which he ran alongside his main band Ramleh. "One of the earliest releases on the label, Myth more than fulfils the promise of the UK’s power electronics scene to fully deliver on punk’s failure to fully liberate rock/roll from …
