The mid-seventies volumes, of which the 23rd is one, are the ones where the arrangements start to admit disco, a Fender Rhodes and a wah pedal sneaking in behind Fausto Papetti's alto. It suits him more than you would expect; the breathy tone floats over a four-on-the-floor better than over a shuffle.
If you buy one Raccolta to understand the phenomenon, this vintage is a good candidate: still the hits of the day, still the cover, but with a rhythm section that could have been booked for a Baia degli Angeli night. Durium, Italian pressing.
