The Dagar family has produced dhrupad singers for twenty generations, and the "Dagar Brothers" credit has belonged to several pairs of them. This Auvidis Montaigne LP from the eighties documents the later generation in a French studio recording of a different order from the Bärenreiter disc: close, dry, the two voices and the tanpura filling the whole frequency range, the pakhawaj arriving like weather.

French audiences took to dhrupad in these years with a passion that surprised the Dagars themselves, and Auvidis became the family's European home. Where India III is an ethnographic document, this is a concert recording made for listeners who already knew what they were hearing. French pressing with notes.
