Cosmic Invention

Side project from the golden era of Masaki Batoh's Ghost! Instead of the spirituality-infused temple-raiding of the mother band, Cosmic Invention sought to play - loud and hard - in the spirit of their youthful inspirations. Enter Michio Kurihara, with his otherworldly Cippolina-channeling leads - and a storming rock band, whose subsequent incarnation as Ghost shocked the US in '97. Bonus jam included on this first-ever vinyl manifestation. On Help Your Satori Mind, the results are as spectacular as one could wish -- the album plants itself in conventionally rocking psychedelia that's a little more musular than White Heaven's usual, but it also takes some folky turns that betray the Ghost involvement. More importantly, the project covers some new territory -- when tracks like "La Shorai" find atmospheric pulses that have little to do with the rock orientations of some of the involved bands, Cosmic Invention proves itself as an incredibly worthwhile project beyond the mere supergroup status.

"It’s a completely essential and utterly devastating record and it should find a place on your shelf as soon as possible." Raven Sing The Blues
