By day Dino Betti van der Noot ran an advertising agency in Milan; by night, and on records like this one, he wrote for a big band of more than twenty players. Here Comes Springtime came out on Soul Note, the Milan label of Giovanni Bonandrini, with liner notes by Nat Hentoff, and it mixes Italian section players with Americans and Argentines brought in as soloists.
The young Donald Harrison takes the most solos, on alto, soprano and sopranino saxophone. Gianluigi Trovesi answers him on E-flat clarinet in the title track and in Just The Way We Live Tonight, Franco Ambrosetti plays flugelhorn on So Far Away From You, and Hugo Heredia moves between baritone saxophone and alto flute. Daniel Humair is on drums, Mitchel Forman on piano, Bob Cunningham on bass, and Linda Wesley sings.
