Artwork by Mirt.' label info Jason Kahn, born 1960, New York, USA. Composition, installations, percussion, electronics. Based in Zürich, Switzerland. Z'EV. After studying at CalArts with Concrete Poet Emmett Williams he concentrated on producing visual and sound poetries, and was included in the ÔSecond Generation' show at the Museum of Conceptual Art in San Francisco in 1975. While but one of the progenitors of the Ôindustrial movement' at the end of the 1970's, he, along with neil megson, was primarily responsible for delivering the Ôtribal' impulse and esthetic into the Western cultural milieu between the years 1980-1984 through his work with catacoustic (reflected sound-based) metal percussion. While generally most known as a solo performer, since 2003 he has been concentrating on cooperative and collaborative composition and performance.
