A Mass for voice, violin, spoons, double bass and organ composed in 1974 and released by Arion in 1984. Never re-issued on either CD or LP.

condition (record/cover): NM / NM

Pierick Houdy, a French composer and organist who settled in Quebec, wrote this Mass in 1974 for an unusual group of voices, violin, spoons, double bass and positive organ. Fiddle and spoons come straight from Québécois folk music, and the sung Ordinary is framed by entrance, offertory, communion and closing chants, several on texts by Houdy himself.

Houdy plays the positive organ, with Jean-Louis Rousseau on violin, André Morin on spoons, Rénald Saint-Pierre on double bass and the choir prepared by Claude Gosselin. The short liturgical movements, most around a minute, give way to longer, more relaxed pieces at the start and end of the service. Issued by Arion in 1984.
