Digitmovies is proud to present on LP the complete OST by Piero Piccioni for the 1967 anthology film ''Le streghe'' (aka ''The Witches'' - Les sorcières), also including episodes ''La strega bruciata viva'' ( ''The Witch Scorched Alive'') by Luchino Visconti and ''Una sera come le altre'' (''A Night Like Any Other'') by Vittorio De Sica, as well as "La Terra vista dalla Luna" by Pier Paolo Pasolini - produced by Dino de Laurentiis.
Remastered from the original tapes, that were kept in the private archives of M °Piccioni and they have been found with the big help of Jason Piccioni, the son of the composer. Two ¼ reel tapes, one in stereo and one in mono, which have been preserved until today in very good conditions, have really given us the chance to realize this - until today impossible - record dream. The score is brilliantly conducted by Bruno Nicolai and Piero Piccioni himself. Please note also that in this OST and almost in all his soundtracks, M ° Piccioni performs solo piano and organ.
"Some of the grooviest Piero Piccioni work of the late 60s – the jazzy score he put together for a couple of segments in the late 1967 anthology film Le Streghe, aka The Witches! The sounds range from small combo, 60s dancefloor jazzy sounds put together with piano & organ grooves, bass, drums and some groovy brass, to more spare, kind of sweet natured and lovely bits. It's the jazzy bits that really makes it special, which is reprised throughout the set with slight different tones & color – from moddish dancefloor style, to a carnivalesque groove. 32 tracks, all variations on the title. Amazing stuff – one of the best Piero Piccioni scores we've come across in years" Dustygroove
