Orbital Ensemble returns with Live at Gold Standard, a six-track EP recorded live off the floor at Gold Standard Recorders. The session captures the full chemistry of the ensemble’s Toronto-based lineup: Jon Catanus, May Akanuma, Racha Moukalled, Artu Bastos, Ana Higuera, Dan McLay, Caleb Klager, and bandleader Felipe Sena. The group expands its sonic palette with special instrumentation, including vibraphone, which appears on select performances and adds a luminous, airy dimension to their neotropical psychedelic sound. The EP features live interpretations of key tracks from Orbital — Daydreams, Espelho do Sol, Brasa, and Transe — reimagined with the dynamic interplay and force of the full live band.
Alongside these reworked pieces, the EP debuts two new compositions — Deusas and Invocada — both set to appear on the next full-length album in 2026. As a body of work, Live at GS bridges phases of the project: the evolution from Felipe Sena’s studio-driven compositions into a fully collaborative ensemble, while offering a clear preview of the group’s expanding direction. It captures Orbital Ensemble in motion — expanding, experimenting, and shaping the next chapter of their sound with a visceral, raw immediacy.
To accompany the release, live performance videos for most of the tracks are available on YouTube, offering the strongest visual and sonic documentation of the band to date. These sessions showcase the ensemble’s explosive energy, musicianship, and chemistry in their most authentic form — live, unfiltered, and in full force.
