Eighteen movements gathered over nearly a decade, zakè's third Orchestral Tape Studies, closing with rearticulations by bvdub, Wayne Robert Thomas and Abul Mogard with Rafael Anton Irisarri.

Tape version. Across eighteen movements, Orchestral Tape Studies III deepens and refines the ever-expanding orchestral universe of zakè (aka Zach Frizzell), building on the foundations established by Orchestral Tape Studies I & II (2019/2023), Orchestral Studies Collectanea (2020), Veta (2024), and Caelum (2025). Frizzell describes this suite as "a slow-burning meditation, like a manuscript left open to the rigors of time."

While Orchestral Tape Studies III ably enriches the vision that Frizzell has developed over more than two decades of writing and recording, its defining quality lies in its extensive gestation. Bringing together longtime friends and collaborators who have shared in that journey, the suite broadens its tonal palette while allowing memory, time, and lived experience to leave their imprint on the music.

Notably, these pieces emerged one by one, finding their form in the spaces between other projects over the course of nearly a decade, lending the work a sense of patience, unhurried fullness, and quiet completeness.

The suite draws to a close with sweeping rearticulations by Brock Van Wey (bvdub), Wayne Robert Thomas, and Abul Mogard with Rafael Anton Irisarri. Each contribution extends the work into new emotional and expressive terrain, reshaping its orchestral language through distinct perspectives while remaining deeply connected to Frizzell's singular vision. Together, these closing works form an expansive coda, bringing the album to a resonant and contemplative conclusion.

Mastered at Ambient Mountain House by James Bernard.
