Pétale Défoule opens with a bewildering piece of ’Intro'. Like the conductor of an orchestra, that she would have matrixed herself, the solo musician tunes all her sounds, raises her trombone, switches on all her instruments and friendly machines, calling all the creatures from the enchanted woods and wastelands to join in. Larsen touches everything so brilliantly, it’s stunning. Over the 8 tracks, we are transported by the heavy breaked bass of «Shygirl», the stepper accents of «Grosses bastos», or the drone of «Slurpdub». We feel the dnb influences of «Faukjluidon1nom», and the 'NewTrad' spirit in «Barbarie».

The incredible featuring for/with Queen Elizabeth Vogler is a beautiful buggy parade ; magnified incantations, pushing toward a weird great fanfare, in a cybernetic sledge. The title sounds like a weird and collective march towards the future, a murky celebration of the voice of the women of all times. Epic and percussive sounds blend with smooth melodies, virtuoso and emotional synths. We go from the feeling of a large buzzing insects, to the vision of funky bots talking, ending up sounding like songs of ghosts in the sparkling night.

Even with crashes in the matrix, something that does not turn right in the general tuning, La Bande à Bader creates a new harmony, an harmony to oneself. The odyssey of off-kilter sounds awakens to the world, to the stories, to the mix. Party ahead yes - breaky or trippy hop, only with emotions, oscillating moods and a beating heart. It’s both clear-cut and generous, the irreconcilable marry and co-exist. Everything converges towards a reality, certainly misshapen and fragmented, like in a video game universe, Street Fighter style, where the characters would surrender their weapons and start listening to music together. Even if it is sensitive, hazy, sad sometimes, we connect ourselves to others for real and with everything that is surrounding us, celebrating all souls in all their forms.

Petal Défoule is a cry. A total hymn to the depths, to resourcefulness and DIY systems, by Larsen and her best friend, her blipbloum FM synthesis machine. Together they fold the game of a great pharaminous ensemble, easy! Whereas they are only two, but with so many figures summoned...
