Gatefold sleeve.

February 1961, Van Gelder's studio, one session, and a record that has never once fallen out of favour. Oliver Nelson wrote all of it and assembled a septet that should not have worked as well as it did: Eric Dolphy and Freddie Hubbard supplying the fire, Bill Evans at the piano supplying something entirely different, Paul Chambers and Roy Haynes underneath. "Stolen Moments" became a standard within a few years and remains one of the most perfect jazz compositions of the era. Nelson's arranging is the real achievement: seven instruments made to sound like a much larger band without ever getting heavy.

Original Impulse! pressing, gatefold. On every serious list, and it earns the position.
