Yüen Shan
Michael Ranta is one of those rare composers able to organically melt his wide artistic span into a singular but yet diverse universe morphing his rich vocabulary as a percussionist with the Oriental esoteric tradition, the psychedelic underground and the realm of electronic minimalism.Yuen Shan (Round Mountain in chinese) was conceived in 1972 and finalised in 2014. It’s a major work in Ranta’s oeuvre (his first solo release in almost 25 years), highly personal and spiritual. A musical cosmogon…
Exuma II
Only a few months after Exuma's tremendous success with their eponymous debut album, charismatic singer Tony ‘The Obeah Man’ McKay and his band released their follow-up LP on the Mercury label. Based once again on intriguing Afro-American and Indian percussion and tribal chants, the seven-piece New York City based group landed another great album, that will now be available in the record stores for the first time on CD. A cult recording, like its predecessor, it will delight both rock and world …
Exuma
An unusual record dug up from 1970 here, following Tony McKay’s explorations into a ‘voodoo folk’ personality. Exuma sounds, at one level, like a classic early 70’s singer-songwriter record: on another level, it sounds like a street carnival, full of varied percussion and possessed vocals.
Well I Fell in Love With the Eye at the Bottom of the Well
Pogus presents Well I Fell in Love With the Eye at the Bottom of the Well by id m theft able. Idm says: "The initial idea for "Well I Fell in Love with the Eye at the Bottom of the Well" was actually to attempt to make a doo wop song with that as the title. I kept adding more and more ideas and those ideas blossomed into other ideas to the extent that there's only the faintest hint of that initial doo wop impulse on the album but a whole other sort of garden grew up around it and through it. It …

Organism
Organism is the debut album from Copenhagen Clarinet Choir. With track titles like ’Flocking’, ‘Hive Mind’ and ‘Water Piece’, the work is situated at the intersection of composition and improvisation, and at the nexus of nature and music. Led by Irish woodwind player and composer Carolyn Goodwin, the clarinet sextet takes an egalitarian approach in the way it assembles its players. In the music of Organism, interdependent parts find an overall shape as organically as a living entity. Much like a…
Pause for the Cause: London Rave Adverts 1991-1996, Vol. 2
Tip!  Back in the early '90s, whenever the pirate radio MC announced "a pause for the cause", I usually pressed pause on my cassette recorder. That's something I would regret years later, when ad breaks had become cherished mementos of the hardcore rave era. Luckily, back in the day I often left the tape running while I went off to do something else. So a fair number of ad breaks got captured accidentally for my later delectation. Not nearly enough, though. So in recent years I started combing t…

Seuchengebiete 4
* In process of stocking * Part 4 in the series of hydrophonic pieces, Seuchengebiete, by Asmus Tietchens  Seuchengebiete 4, the continuation of Asmus Tietchens’ almost legendary series of treated water sounds, consists of six Hydrophonies. The sonic palette ranges from deep gurgling bass pulses to fragile movements of showering bright particles. The overall mood is earnest, contemplative and dark. Seuchengebiete 4 is perhaps the ultimate soundtrack for our crises-ridden times.   Asmus Tietchens…
Assemblée, Relâche, Réjouissance, Parade
**200 copies** "Assemblée, Relâche, Réjouissance, Parade or another long, unspeakable, French, title (that would somehow translate as " Assembly, Pause, Rejoicing, Parade"). Words that conjure ideas of music used in public, and social rituals. The two distinct pieces experiment with the "bringing back" (re-injection?) of music into the experimental area. Do not see anything pretentious about it, it is rather a very personal path, in the sense, among others, to not forbid certain aspects of music…
Choosing Freedom
With this work Gagi Petrovic chooses to explore beyond abstraction, dwell within it, to find an inner celebration of what it means to let go of expectations and let music ring free. Free from arbitrary expectations, emotional manipulations and conservative evasions regarding what music "should" be. For this purpose he created his own musical instrument. The custom-built Gest allows the performer to design and play electronic music in an intuitive way, turning hand gestures and light sensors into…
Siticidelhous
**200 copies** Jean-Luc Guionnet and Miguel A. Garcia return to Moving Furniture Records with their second album Siticidelhous. Recorded during the same sessions at the conservatory Jesus Guridi in Vitoria Gasteiz in 2016 as their album Parkustomnie they further explore the possibilities of improvised church organ and electronic sounds. Just like the previous release this album has two different sides. Due to the characteristics of the music and recordings when you play it at different volume le…
Various Weights
In sound art, concepts often take precedence over the actual music. Here, there were none. For their first collaboration, Frans de Waard and Martijn Comes decided on a strikingly simple approach: Each artist compiled a pool of sounds for the other to use as a point of departure. Comes worked with various analog synth- and field recordings by de Waard (including, among others, a Korg MS20 and Koma Field FX). The latter was sent a processed stylophone recording, a sample loop as well as recordings…
The Imitation Of An Action
These recordings are based on the idea of acoustic instruments imitating electronic sounds created by a live performer. The core, structure, and length of the pieces are defined by a graphic score that leaves room to the musicians for the imitation of those sounds. This work is a commission by Archipel Festival and Ensemble Contrechamps, with the support of the Nicati-de Luze foundation.

Another Thought
Another Thought was the first collection of Arthur Russell’s music to be released after his death in 1992. Released on CD by Point Music in 1993 it marked the beginning of nearly 30 years of work to let the world hear the enormous archive of unreleased recordings Arthur left behind. Be With revisits this first compilation for a new gatefold double vinyl version and a triple-fold digipak CD re-issue. This is the only place where you can hear some of Arthur’s most recognisable music, like the titl…
From Signal to Decay: Volume 2
*250 copies limited edition* With a sound described as ‘astonishing’ by the late writer Mark Fisher, Trevor Mathison’s forte is in the creation of haunting aural landscapes, and the repurposing of existing music—used to significant effect in over thirty award-winning films, and central to this LP, Mathison's debut solo release, which has been thirty years in the making. Drawing on his solo works and those composed for Black Audio Film Collective, comes with a specially commissioned essay by Kodw…
Aether
Over the course of two nights, a few weeks before the pandemic arrived in Portugal, André Gonçalves (ADDAC System) and Casper Clausen (Efterklang) recorded music from another realm, dreamy and scary at the same time, sounds complete but it seems to be falling apart at any moment. It is like an alien language or a way to process sound that sounds foreign because it is different from everything else, formally, and aesthetically. This is “Aether”, 37 minutes of constant take-off. A departure from w…
