Recorded in Tokyo in June 1978 after his stay in the United States, Midnight Sun captures the Tsuyoshi Yamamoto Trio in a format typical of the Three Blind Mice aesthetic: full, dynamic sound and natural breathing of the playing. Between standards (‘Autumn Leaves’, ‘Love Is Here To Stay’) and more personal themes, Yamamoto favours melodic narration, with a deep left hand and a very singing touch.

The idea for California Space Craft was born out of a series of inspired live …
A delirious cult concept album disguised as pop, first released in 1971, where psychedelic grooves, funk and global rhythms meet phonetic pseudo-Japanese chants, judo-master ritual cries and a children's choir. Sampled by Erykah Badu, Madlib and DopeLemon, and the unlikely spark behind Bananarama's debut. This can only be the fabulous world of Yamasuki.
In the spring of 1971, somewhere between Brussels, Paris and a collective pop fever dream, Le Monde Fabuleux Des Yamasuki landed on vinyl. It so…
*200 copies limited edition* Ukrainian sound artist Tungu, a.k.a. Sergiy Senchuk, has long been operating in this domain and has a huge array of collaborations and solo work behind him, besides a background starting over two decades ago in metal and hardcore music. For over ten years now, however, he has been responsible for producing electronic music that draws from improvisation, abstract sound and electroacoustic composition. Paranormal Awakening catches him collaborating with equally prolifi…
*100 copies limited edition* For more than three decades, Germany’s drone ambient pioneers Troum have explored the liminal zones between sound and sensation, shaping immersive sonic environments that dissolve boundaries between ritual, memory, and matter. Emerging from the industrial-ambient underground of the 1990s, Troum have remained devoted to a singular artistic intent: to create transformative listening experiences, dense with atmosphere and charged with inner movement, where sound becomes…
Following her debut album, 'I’ll Look for You in Others' (Past Inside the Present), earlier this year, Patricia Wolf joins Balmat label with 'See-Through', her second album. 'See Through' finds the Portland, Oregon musician and field recordist continuing to develop her signature style of ambient, balancing radiant soundscaping with a carefully expressive sensibility. But the new album is also marked by an important difference. Where 'I’ll Look for You in Others' was largely written in response t…
Hot on the heels of the Tokyo bliss and Funk Tide sets, Tokyo-based DJ Notoya delivers Tokyo Pulse a new juicy selection of Funk and Modern soul recorded in Tokyo in the 70s and 80s. Most tracks here are making their debut outside of Japan and the album, like its predecessors, has been designed by Manuel Sepulveda (Optigram) and is annotated by DJ Notoya. The audio has been newly mastered in Tokyo by Nippon Columbia Records and remastered for vinyl by Colorsound in Paris.
Anenon's tenor saxophone breathes an emotive contemplation on loss, meshed with sustained piano and field recordings. 'Moons Melt Milk Light' is a hyper-personal statement contained in a visceral beauty.
*100 copies limited edition* Salix is a bold new departure for modular synthesist Loula Yorke, seen here using an antique reed organ to explore the ancient roots of willow trees in magic, myth and medicine, as well as inviting another musician into her recording studio for the first time, clarinettist Charlotte Jolly. The EP forms a sonic archive of a singular instrument: an antique free reed organ left behind by a previous encumbent of Asylum Studios, (the artists' co-operative in Suffolk where…
A long-lost jewel of European Afro-fusion, African Roll captures the explosive meeting of African polyrhythms, funk grooves, and 1970s Italian nightclub culture. Recorded in Turin by the multinational ensemble M’Bamina, the album blends Congolese roots, Afro-Latin colours, and raw dancefloor energy into a spontaneous, hybrid sound far ahead of its time. Originally released in limited quantities and overlooked, it has since become a sought-after collector’s classic. This official reissue restores…
Nearly four decades after the fact, the full story of Coil's aborted commission for Clive Barker's Hellraiser can finally be heard - and it is every bit as extraordinary as the legend suggested. The Unreleased Themes for Hellraiser [expanded ritual], released by Mental Groove Records / Musique Pour La Danse, is the definitive edition of one of experimental music's most mythologised what-ifs: a lost soundtrack now restored, expanded, and assembled into a coherent and deeply unsettling whole.
The …
Gwenifer Live at WFMU was recorded on December 8th, at the tail end of Gwenifer Raymond's December North American tour dates. This session captures Gwenifer Raymond performing a stark, spellbinding selection of songs drawn from her critically acclaimed albums Last Night I Heard The Dog Star Bark and Strange Lights Over Garth Mountain. Widely regarded as one of the great folk artists of the 21st century, Raymond has earned international praise for her raw, hypnotic instrumentals rooted in Mississ…
*2026 Repress* Los Angeles based pianist, producer, and songwriter John Carroll Kirby traveled to Pietrasanta, Italy in the summer of 2018 on a self-imposed writing trip. During his stay he composed Tuscany, a two side-long solo piano exploration of this particular geographical envelope, a place where nature is shaped into form. Kirby would cycle 12 kilometers each day to Cascata di Malbacco, a waterfall with jade pools and silver stone, and the inspiration for Side A of Tuscany. His own Cascata…
The Tokyo Sessions, the dazzling new album project by Dutch alt sax icon Benjamin Herman, oozes a deep affinity for the Land of the Rising Sun. In 2024 and 2025, Herman – along with bassist Thomas Pol and drummer and The Tokyo Sessions album producer Jimmi Jo Hueting – found themselves knee-deep in Tokyo’s hyper-eclectic musical underbelly – districts like Shimokitazawa and Koenji where underground scenes in the city continue to flourish. Minds were ceaselessly and consistently blown: noise art…
Footsteps, car horns, a drawer sliding shut. wind chimes, family voices, street corners. bus stops, parks, a dog barking, a fight on TV. Los Angeles, San Francisco, Taipei, Oakland, Keelung, San Gabriel Valley, South City.
It draws from a 15-year archive of field recordings that capture the ordinary music of lived life. Rather than aspiring to aesthetic refinement or spiritual escape, Tru Folk exists at street-level. It approaches sound as a vernacular practice that values what is common and hu…
On Actionreaction 2, Pippo Lionni, Sergio Corbini and Stefano Franceschini turn the studio into a single, improvising organism, where spackle knives and rollers become percussion, free‑jazz piano and sax tangle with electronics, and each canvas is written twice – in sound and in paint.
First time on vinyl for these incendiary hard psych rock tracks, which made their only other appearance in Australia in 1999 on CD as part of the “Sky Pilot” compilation released by Camera Obscura Records.
With each passing year since his death, the intense and inspiring musical legacy of Jesus Acedo is in danger of slipping into darkness. That’s where we at Lion Productions come in — together with Rich Hopkins and San Jacinto Records — to do our utmost to keep the Lambent Flame burning, so to …
