577 Records announces the release of Atlântico, the new album by Portuguese vocalist and composer Manuel Linhares, arriving June 12, 2026. Shaped between New York and Porto, the record moves through experimental and contemporary currents, marking Linhares’ debut on the label.  Atlântico carries the dim, melancholic glow of music born along the shores of the Atlantic. At times it cuts—restless, sharp, and full of forward motion; at others it drifts, steeped in a dense blue, where tones deepen and shift like water under changing light. It is the sound of a life stretched between two edges: the urgent, electric pulse of New York—alive, demanding, and unrelenting—and the quiet gravity of Porto, where time softens and melancholy lingers beneath the surface.

An ode to the ocean and to the slow drift of time it contains, Atlântico follows the inner tides of a life in motion. From its first Azorean echoes, the music carries distance within it—of memory, of place, of becoming. At once romantic and searching, it moves between intimacy and release, discipline and rupture, always returning to a sense of openness and possibility. Now based in New York, Linhares has developed a singular voice that draws from jazz while reaching beyond it—into Brazilian rhythmic language, avant-garde textures, fragments of pop and folk, and a broader Atlantic sensibility shaped over years between Berlin, Barcelona, Porto, and New York.  Recorded at Studio 42 in Williamsburg, Atlântico brings together a close-knit group of musicians from the New York scene, including Or Bareket, Glenn Zaleski, and Keita Ogawa, with David Binney as a special guest. The album also features Portuguese musicians Gil Silva on tenor saxophone and Hugo Caldeira on trombone, grounding the project in a shared lineage across the Atlantic. The record continues Linhares’ collaboration with Brazilian producer António Loureiro, whose presence is felt in its depth, clarity, and subtle detail.

With Atlântico, Manuel Linhares begins a new chapter with 577 Records. From the moment the recordings arrived, there was a sense of something immediate and alive. The label welcomes Linhares with this release, opening the door to an ongoing exchange and future collaborations still to unfold.
