Tenor saxophone and acoustic guitar, one of the least likely duos of the seventies, and it works. Frank Lowe was a hard-blowing free jazz player out of the ESP and loft-scene tradition; Eugene Chadbourne was a Canadian-based improviser about to become one of the great eccentrics of American underground music. Don't Punk Out is the two of them going at it with no rhythm section, no plan and a great deal of humour: Lowe roaring, Chadbourne scraping, prepping and generally treating the guitar as a set of problems rather than an instrument. Released on Chadbourne's own imprint.
