Three beautiful works for Jurg Frey's clarinet by the Amsterdam-based Wandelweiser composer Dante Boon, with the composer accompanying Jurg on piano on two of the pieces. Amsterdam-based composer and pianist Dante Boon (1973) has been composing since he was 11 years old, playing new music since he was thirteen. He joined a well-known Dutch rock band when he was 24. After its break-up, he worked extensively over the years with composers such as Tom Johnson, Jürg Frey, Antoine Beuger and Samuel Vriezen and played with the major new music ensembles in the Netherlands. His own music has been performed worldwide, especially in the context of music by composers affiliated with the Wandelweiser group, his own music being published by Edition Wandelweiser. As a pianist, he has recorded numerous CD's, often with premiere recordings of solo piano and chamber repertoire. His first solo CD, released in 2010 by Edition Wandelweiser Records, received international acclaim. A new solo album, with piano works by Dutch Wandelweiser composers Beuger, Boon and Susam is scheduled for 2017, as well as a recording of Morton Feldman's 'For John Cage' recorded with American violinist / composer Andrew McIntosh. New music label Another Timbre (UK) just released an album of Jürg Frey and Dante Boon playing three of Boon's solo and duo works for clarinet (and piano).
