Eventless Plot is the collective name for three musicians from Thessaloniki, Greece, who compose together. Vasilis Liolios, Aris Giatis and Yiannis Tsirikoglou have been collaborating in this way since they met as students 20 years ago. They bring in other musicians from Greece and Holland (where Yiannis now lives) as their compositions develop. The CD presents three of their recent and most compelling chamber works.

"The title reflects the basic idea of the composition. There is a contradiction between the sense of calmness that the piano and flute give, and the tension that the cello and electronics gradually build, like two parallel words. The piece was composed mainly on the piano, and at first we had no idea what the rest of the instrumentation would be. We tried a lot of combinations of instruments in order to best achieve this sense of contradiction. Sometimes the instruments sound as if they are unconnected, as if they have an autonomous role in the piece, and sometimes they meet each other tonally and become one, creating compact structures". - Eventless Plot

“A mercurial intelligence that is both human yet beyond individual subjectivity, quietly confounding expectations as each turn creates a new hybrid of sound.” - Ben Harper

A triptych whose recent compositions offer themselves as complementary variations on a doleful counterpoint to the surrounding desolation, the faded memory of a music that was, surviving only in its elementary particles.
