"Sacre du Tympan is my orchestra and my instrument of expression for the past 25 years. With this ensemble, which has flexible (variable) instrumentation and has to its name about a dozen albums, along with numerous concerts in France and abroad, I express myself as both a composer and an arranger. In 2008, we created a program for the Jazz à la Villette festival with five musicians, prioritizing electronic music and synthesizers in the music of De Roubaix, a pioneer of the home studio and of synthesizers. In 2015, we recorded this program.

For the composer’s 50th anniversary in 2025, I would like to expand the program to include orchestral music as well—music that is also very present in his work. This will highlight the timeless quality of his music while putting it in conversation with the works of a few other composers, to demonstrate the influence he may have had, including on legends such as Morricone, Michel Legrand, or John Barry.

Revisiting François de Roubaix’s compositions will bring to the forefront the richness of the themes, harmonies, and timbres that emerge from his works—works that have crossed the decades by showcasing their intergenerational reach with all audiences." - Fred Pallem
