condition (record/cover): EX / VG+ (light ring wear)
A multi-instrumentalist and composer who worked largely out of the American Midwest, released his own records on his own World Artists imprint, and remains almost entirely absent from the standard histories. Walter Zuber Armstrong played reeds and flutes across a body of work that moves between free jazz, spiritual music and something closer to contemporary composition, always self-produced and always in tiny quantities. Hitana is one of those records that turns up in a collection and stops the conversation, because nobody quite knows what it is. Serious, strange, and made with total independence.
Original private pressing on World Artists. Genuine outsider material and very seldom seen.
