Italian duo Dressel Amorosi - Valerio Lombardozzi (aka Heinrich Dressel) on keyboards, synths and programming, and Federico Amorosi on bass - return with House of Dolls, their third studio album following Deathmetha (Giallo Disco, 2018) and Spectrum (Four Flies, 2023).
The project stems from the meeting of two musicians deeply rooted in Italian soundtrack history. Lombardozzi is a key figure in Rome's synth scene, with releases on labels such as Mannequin, Bordello A Parigi, Lunar Disko and Giallo Disco, wielding an arsenal that includes Roland Juno 106, Korg MS 20, Farfisa Syntorchestra and the legendary Elka Synthex. Amorosi served as bassist for Claudio Simonetti's Goblin and Daemonia, and continues to collaborate with Fabio Frizzi in the "Frizzi 2 Fulci" project, performing iconic themes from Dawn of the Dead and Tenebre on stages worldwide.
House of Dolls is the soundtrack to an imaginary film that was never made. Eight tracks traverse sonic territories both familiar and startling: from the hypnotic pulse of "Radio Metha" to the dancefloor-shaking "Escape", from the evocative melody of "Octagon Tower" to the razor-sharp synths of "Eyeless Puppet". Amorosi's serpentine Rickenbacker 4003 basslines intertwine with Lombardozzi's glacial synthesizers, building atmospheres that oscillate between giallo, horror and italo disco, with hints of dungeon synth and synthwave.
