Electronic Sound magazine presents its most ambitious cover story of the year, featuring Brian Eno and Beatie Wolfe as they prepare to release their third collaborative album in 2025. The issue comes bundled with an exclusive lush purple vinyl seven-inch featuring tracks from their ongoing creative partnership. The creative alliance between ambient pioneer Brian Eno and composer/conceptual artist Beatie Wolfe—whom Vice called "a musical weirdo and visionary"—has already produced two acclaimed albums this year: Luminal and Lateral. Their third release, Liminal, arrives next month, completing a trilogy that blends dreamy, mesmeric ambient atmospherics with fragments of hushed Americana.

The accompanying purple seven-inch showcases the A-side "Play On" from Luminal, which Eno describes as "a combination of moods, of feelings, that I don't think I've ever come across before." The B-side features "Compromised Cowboy," previously available only on the Japanese CD edition of Luminal—"another seductive sonic paradox," according to Eno. "Inbuilt contradictions. It's ominous but beautiful."

The extensive cover story explores the duo's creative process, from their unconventional methods of sourcing abandoned speakers from skips to deeper philosophical discussions about creativity itself. The interview positions their work at the intersection where music, art, science, and technology converge.

Beyond the cover story, the issue features interviews with Colombian experimentalist Lucrecia Dalt (whose new album is co-produced by David Sylvian), UK trio The Utopia Strong (featuring snooker legend Steve Davis), San Francisco street performer The Space Lady, krautrock icon Michael Rother, and renowned drummer Budgie (Siouxsie and the Banshees). Additional coverage includes Section 25, Wevie Stonder, Automatic, The Allegorist, Milo Korbenski, and Leon Vynehall.

The exclusive vinyl seven-inch is available only to Electronic Sound readers and will not be available through retail channels.
