Guru Guru were the trio around the drummer Mani Neumeier, and Känguru (1972) catches them at their heaviest and most playful: free-rock jams welded to fuzz guitar, political mischief, and Neumeier's restless polyrhythms. There is a debt to Hendrix in the guitar and to free jazz in the drumming, but the anarchic humor is wholly the band's own.
A cornerstone of the wilder, rock-facing end of the German underground. This is the Italian PDU pressing.
