Ray Anthony was the last of the big-band trumpeters to have a proper career, a Glenn Miller alumnus who kept an orchestra on the road through the fifties, wrote the Peter Gunn arrangement everyone remembers and the Dragnet theme's hit version, and appeared in enough films to be a face as well as a sound. This Japanese Capitol double set gathers the dance hits and TV themes, remastered for a market that treated American big bands with a reverence they no longer got at home.

Anthony's band was tight and loud, its trumpet section a wall, and the Japanese pressing does it justice. Gatefold with the red Capitol label. A reminder that swing survived into the age of Elvis by becoming television.
