*2026 Stock* SLG3 is a major return from Juan Manuel Cidrón, the Almería-born synthesist whose patient, analogue-rooted work has occupied a singular place in Spanish electronic music since the late 1970s. A lifelong devotee of radio, records and sound machines, Cidrón developed his own language outside the established circuits of distribution and fashion, issuing sixteen albums on his independent Extrarradio label, often in editions so limited that they circulated more as rumor than catalogue. His music has always carried the scale of open land: keyboards extending like desert, snow or wind, not merely depicting a landscape but making space itself feel sonorous.
Cidrón’s early foundation lies in the Berlin School - Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze and the vast, sequencer-driven imagination of 1970s kosmische music - alongside the repetition, restraint and slowly changing forms of American minimalism. Yet SLG3 does not play as a nostalgic reconstruction of those traditions. Its four side-length pieces are direct, patient and deeply personal, built from the physical presence of analogue sound and an ear for the minute changes that make extended electronic form feel alive. This is music that understands duration not as an obstacle but as a source of revelation: tones bloom, oscillations acquire emotional weight, and small shifts in timbre become events.
The four tracks - S, L, G and 3 - were written, produced and mixed by Cidrón at his Extrarradio Studio in Almería between 2017 and 2019. Each title suggests an elemental perspective rather than a fixed narrative. Cidrón has described S, L and G as personal perceptions of three elements comprising our planet in all their forms, manifestations and presences. The final piece, 3, looks outward: an imagined being from another world discovers Earth, travels toward it and encounters its landscapes with admiration, bewilderment, hope and respect. That scenario is not imposed as a program to decode, but offered as an invitation to free interpretation. The music’s true subject remains listening itself - what happens when unfamiliar tones become environments and electronic gestures begin to suggest weather, terrain or distant memory.
Across the album, Cidrón’s keyboards unfold with the steady confidence of a musician who has spent decades learning how much can be achieved with a sustained sound, a recurring figure or an interval left unresolved. His sensibility is both cosmic and grounded. The machines do not erase the human presence; they amplify it, making his choices of rhythm, harmony and space feel tactile. There are traces of the “sonic poetry” that made earlier albums such as Tau and Sonido Para Acciones cherished objects among listeners of Spanish experimental electronics, but SLG3 is not a retrospective. It is the work of an artist still pursuing what an electronic instrument can reveal when allowed to breathe at its own pace.
This double album also marks Cidrón’s first exclusively vinyl release in more than a decade, following Patagón, issued by Geometrik in 2012. For an artist who has continued to embrace analogue media as an aesthetic and philosophical commitment, the format matters. Vinyl offers a physical continuity with the process: sound etched into a surface, duration divided into sides, listening made deliberate. Co-edited by Extrarradio, Geometrik, Munster Records and Waste Editions, SLG3 arrives as a limited double LP, framed by design from Vicent Bangover and photography by Antonio Domene.
