The choice of the CD-R format in this handcrafted box set is intended as self-tribute to MCIAA's origins -- furthermore, it is our act of revolt against the record industry imperialism of the last couple of years -- MCIAA started 25 years ago using CD-R as the most apt format to represent the radical DIY esthetics behind the project -- it was indeed an independent, cheap and ready-to-go-now way to express the urgency of our music-art -- thus, in early 1998, MCIAA’s discographic debut was a self-released CD-R housed in a totally handcrafted art jacket -- MCIAA have been among the first musicians on the globe to use CD-Rs in the era of the officially printed CDs -- and the very first in our terrestrial country called Italy, where MCIAA’s debut album was a shock -- many critics, writers, magazine editors, shops, distros and listeners were not ready to take in consideration this "unofficial" format -- but in the end we broke the wall: it was no more possible to ignore the so-called “alien CD-R attack”, aimed at destabilizing the music market / opening human minds -- crazy how, in just a couple of years, CD-R would have become “the messenger” of the most exciting, independent and sub-underground music scenes worldwide for an entire decade -- now, on the contrary, CD-R seems the most unwanted, neglected and banned format of this pseudo-post-covid era -- exactly for this reason MCIAA are giving CD-R a renewed life of DIY possibilities for art expression and political reaction -- MCIAA will always fight for the survival of music in any kind of physical format -- wish we could be once again of example to many independent musicians -- an artist can’t be stopped by any sneaky or trendy marketing influence / exploitation -- MCIAA have always been and always will be against the tide -- “immune to spiritual disruption” --  Thanks to all of you space travellers for supporting MCIAA’s 25 years of ever-expanding aliencentric Vision -------- Maurizio & Roberto Opalio, 2023
