Japanese repackaging of Miles Davis sextet material, and if the phrase "Japanese repackaging" sounds dismissive it should not: the CBS/Sony catalogue of the sixties and seventies contains some of the best-pressed and most intelligently sequenced jazz records ever put on the market. The sextet years are the ones where Miles had both John Coltrane and Cannonball Adderley in the front line, meaning a band with three of the most important soloists in the music arguing productively on every track, and a rhythm section that had been playing together long enough to be effectively telepathic.
Japanese CBS/Sony pressing, laminated sleeve. Heavy vinyl, dead-quiet surfaces, and the artwork treated with the seriousness it deserves.
