Pangea de Futura is a Montreal octet led by Eric Quach (Thisquietarmy), drawing together musicians from across the city's restless underground, several of whom also play in Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Exhaust, Hanged Up and Avec Le Soleil Sortant De Sa Bouche. War Milk is their debut, built since 2019 around a patient method: the slow construction of massive textural shapes and droning, tribal post-rock atmospheres.
Three drummers (Aidan Girt, Eric Craven, Samuel Bobony) lock together beneath a brass section (Veronique Janosy, Reuel Ordonez, Neboysha Rakic) and Charles Bussieres' electronics, so that each of the four long pieces seems to rise out of its own flux and drift toward its own entropy, a suspended moment held at big-band scale. For anyone who loves the Constellation school of weather-beaten Montreal post-rock, this is a natural fit. Tracks: Little Black Eyes, With Many Legs, Global Ocean, Laurasia Coin. Limited purple vinyl.
