Himiko Kikuchi's 1983 album follows a woman's day in fusion, from Make Up In The Morning to Fat Ma Cooking, built on a spoken hamburger recipe. Self-produced. Reissued by Continental for City Pop on Vinyl 2026, with obi.

LP version. Woman is the 1983 album by the Japanese keyboardist Himiko Kikuchi, a fusion record that follows a woman through her day. She produced it herself, and wrote and arranged it with the guitarist Masatsugu Matsumoto.

The track titles sketch the idea, from Make Up In The Morning through Sunburned Hip and 5 Pm Red Pumps. The best known is Fat Ma Cooking, where a recipe for hamburgers is narrated in Japanese over the sound of chopped vegetables and sizzling meat. Kikuchi plays piano and keyboards and sings. The band has Kazuya Sugimoto and Naoki Watanabe on electric bass and several drummers, among them Hideo Yamaki and Atsuo Okamoto. Shigeo Suzuki and Hirofumi Kinjo are on saxophones, with the Susumu Kazuhara Group brass, Joe Strings and woodwinds around them.

Black vinyl reissue from the series City Pop on Vinyl 2026, Japanese limited edition with obi.
