Shingetsu released one studio album in 1979 and broke up in 1981, leaving behind a body of songs that existed only in concert and on tape. From A Distant Star brings that unrecorded repertoire into the studio, decades later, with the band's songwriting team returning to material from its first life.
The centrepiece is Voyage For Killing Love, presented in two parts with the longer second part placed first, followed by Eyes Of The Mirror and Island Homecoming. The sound stays close to the 1979 album: long-form songs with layered keyboards, guitar textures and theatrical Japanese vocals in the English symphonic tradition the band always admired.
Japanese CD release by Belle Antique, SHM-CD, in a gatefold mini LP sleeve with obi, Japanese liner notes and cloth inner sleeve.
