Sand was made in 1977 by the Swedish composer Ragnar Grippe at Luc Ferrari's A.L.M. studio in Paris, as a response to the sand paintings of the Indian artist Viswanadhan. Grippe recorded it live with successive overdubs, playing organ, recorders, harmonica, electric guitar, bells, thumb organ, maracas and voice himself.
Two untitled sides of about twenty-five minutes each, where drones and small repeated figures pile up slowly and then thin out. Ferrari is thanked on the sleeve for his cooperation. Original Shandar edition in a laminated sleeve.
