Two works by Mary Jane Leach, part of the New York Downtown circle of the late 1970s and 1980s and later the tireless advocate of Julius Eastman's music. Pipe Dreams was written for, and recorded on, the organ of St. Peter's in Cologne in 1989, an instrument with two sets of pipes at opposite ends of the church, and is a structured improvisation on antiphony and microtonal beating between them.
4BC, recorded in 1984, is for four bass clarinets held on long tones until combination and difference tones start to sound above the players. Liner notes by Bradford Bailey. This is the 2019 re-edition on clear vinyl, 100 copies, with obi.
