*Limited to 300 copies* "How can one explain the lasting popularity of the bass clarinet in musical circles from Vienna to Brussels? Perhaps because its frequency range articulates an alternative to conventions of popular music, where "bass" is reserved primarily for rhythmic impulses and the very foundation of the music. Viennese bass clarinetist Susanna Gartmayer's playing can by no means be reduced to just this, rather, it scutinizes the entire sound universe: she can do rhythm and drone, not…
"Flutter & Scrape" is a walking performance for prepared piano, aleatorically prepared room & objects, sine & square wave oscillators, tapes, voice, EMF signal, & time-based electronics. Performed by Sontag Shogun in 2018 in the studio at Machines With Magnets, recorded by Seth Manchester. Electronics & processing done in Montreal & Brooklyn in 2019.
Bob Bellerue's “Unhinged" is 85 minutes of physically heavy yet delicately executed amplified piano noise drone. Taken from two festival performances in 2017, the recordings capture the multidimensional articulation of the speaker systems used on and around the strings of a grand piano. Pickups and microphones are variously fed to small medium and large speakers to make feedback, which is combined to create cross-modulations that are petulant and unstable. Quiet groaning drones build to massive …
Notes from Steve Roden on Oionos :'Oionos was created for the exhibition The Grand Promenade, in Athens, Greece. The exhibition took place in various archaeological and historical sites in central Athens, creating a situation for contemporary site specific works to be in dialogue with their historical surroundings. While it was not originally offered as a possible site, I pleaded with the curator to allow me to work with architect Dimitris Pikionis’s Church of St. Dimitris Loumbardiardis, abo…
Melbourne based percussionist and composer Maria Moles charts out an electro-acoustic familial history with 'For Leolanda’. Drawing on family roots in The Philippines, she extrapolates rhythm and timbre from the diverse musics of that country and interweaves them with percussion, synthesizer and singing bowls. Her sonic meditations are open and generous, and they chart out the shape and pulse of memory; both real and imagined. Each piece tests for the relationships between frequency and harmony,…
As in the Osvaldo Coluccino's own words: "Presence of the work, absence of the author. So muffled, vapor escaping from an old coffer, so dusty and apparently, in some ways, timbrically “primordial” and yet elusive, the first three compositions of the album unfold. The following three increase the dynamism and openness of the timbre. As always in my albums, also in Absum a journey takes place along the tracks that, joined together, make it up. Even in this “raw” timbre paste, emblem of adherence…

«While composing these pieces, I focused on the 20th and 21st-century composition techniques in three main concepts: Serialism, Microtonality, and Noise. You could almost say the Italian Avant-garde of the last century had it all: noise, new music, and the math of Leonardo of Pisa, later known as Fibonacci. In making Composition For Two Oscillators And Two Tape-Recorders I focused on microtonality. The basic concept I like and play with is when tones get close and start to interact with each othe…
* Limited LP edition * Highly electrified guitar, anamorphosed, perforated, and tainted by all sorts of effects, implodes its rage and its urgency in the magnetic nets of a tape recorder as cannibal as it is destructive. From various recordings Lionel Fernandez & Jérôme Noetinger have created and produced these ten pieces: big, biting, dangerous and acerbic – like the intoxicated meeting of a chainsaw and a microphone. Real garage music: grease, gutted car bodies and outdated alternators, like a…

"Tracey Feels Worse" consists of a single 35-minute piece…
Monte Espina, electroacoustic free improvisation duo, consists of Ernesto Montiel and Miguel Espinel, both Venezuelan-born and North Texas-based. The pair perform in tandem, exploring the possibilities of sinuous sonic environments amid amplified sounds and signal processing. "Pa" is Monte Espina's second proper album, following 2019's outstanding "y culebra" (Marginal Frequency). In many respects, this is a seamless continuation of the timbres and atmospheres uncovered in that first effort, b…
** Edition of 200 ** Soleils Noir by Bruno Duplant and Alfredo Costa Monteiro is the first in a series of collaborations between various musicians who release on Moving Furniture Records before. After a collaboration for the Moving Music compilation this is the first time they get together to release a full-length album. From a radical utopia to divine transformations, it is at the same time a mass, a flow, a ball of fire, a sparkling device. A continuous sublimation that renews and regenerates …

Abu-l-Hasan al-Nuri primitive Sufi saint writes: "they possess nothing and are possessed by nothing" is the basis for five landscape studies, as an idea of emptying the soundscape in its concept and also in its practice, a laboratory of environmental recordings and sampling.
This work is visited by readings ranging from Céline to Novalis passing through Georg Buchner in his "Lenz" arriving at Arthur Schopenhauer, offering insights above all in his writings on music and in the "world as will an…
